Cairns’ artist Julie McEnerny trained at Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney during the 1980’s, later relocating to Cairns where she co-owned a popular design studio, the Chalk Art Shop, until 2008 and published the Chalk Art Book which is available through www.justart.com.au
Julie now works as a freelance artist and illustrator from her Cairns studio, exhibiting regularly and tutoring in Botanical Drawing with Queensland's Flying Arts Touring Program. During 2009 she accepted a Botanical Artist residency with Cairns Botanic Gardens and Tanks Arts Centre, which culminated in the exhibition Offshoots, now an annual event and ongoing Botanic Gardens residency. Offshoots IV, to be held in 2012, features the Mangroves of Cairns Botanic Gardens.

Following another area of interest she recently completed a series of lithographs, with master printmaker Theo Tremblay, based on local Queenslander style houses with intriguing histories and is developing this work along with the stories, for exhibition.
